About Me

Maya Freeman is a Sacramento native who joined the Highlands family in November 2019. She has been teaching English for over 7 years and has taught in several countries including France, Spain, and Ecuador. Maya holds a M.A in International Development and a B.S in Urban and Regional Planning.

Her multidisciplinary background has significantly impacted her philosophy on teaching. Diversity, equity, empathy, and creativity are core values that are present in her classroom. Maya strives to make every class impactful for her students by providing a safe, joyous and educational experience.

In her free time, she enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She is also an avid basketball fan and enjoys going to live sporting events.
